Cars in German City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Police stated they were alerted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials state initial examinations show the liquid was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.

Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A senior official said the incident made him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
