From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.
Viewers can look forward to learning which characters will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
